Fire rope is used on all stoves one way or another, the main use for fire rope is to form an air tight seal around the door of your stove, this allows the stove to burn correctly.

Fire rope will not last forever, if the fire rope seal on your door has become flattened too much or it is frayed then the stove will suck oxygen in through this weak point and your stove will over burn ruining the control you have over the fire and the efficiency.

Fire rope can also be used to seal the stove panels where they join together. Another use for fire rope is joining the flue pipe into the stove as the fire rope can withstand extremely high temperatures.
